According to information published by the National Meat Institute (INAC), in August 412 tons of lamb meat were processed by the packing industry, with prices ranging from US$ 4.38 to a maximum of US$ 6.42 per kilo carcass weight. The highest value for special lambs was recorded in the penultimate week of the month, with two tons sold above US$ 6.00.
The average for the eighth month of the year was US$ 5.05, a 6.3% increase month-on-month and 22.3% higher year-on-year; in August 2024 it had averaged US$ 4.13.
Despite the limited supply to meet the industry’s demand, INAC data indicates that the volume processed in August increased 42% compared to July and 13% compared to the same month in 2024.
During the last week of the month, from August 24 to 30, a total of 9,610 lambs were slaughtered, with an average value of US$ 5.17. A maximum of US$ 5.64 and a minimum of US$ 4.38 were recorded. Forty-three percent of the kilos processed by the packing industry were paid above average.
